Mark Thiessen
The Pembina Valley U18 Hawks are excited to announce that Mark Thiessen will be returning to the coaching staff for the 2025-2026 season. Mark brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. He played his junior hockey with the Winkler Flyers before continuing his college career in Alberta and later finishing his playing days overseas in Germany. Now based in Morden, Mark has been a long-time contributor to the hockey community, having served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach with the Winkler Flyers, Head Coach of the Morden Bombers in the SEMHL, and coaching at all levels of minor hockey. His leadership and strong defensive knowledge continue to be a valuable asset to our group, and we are thrilled to have him back behind the bench for another season.

Garrett Szeremley
The Hawks are excited to announce that Garrett Szeremley will be joining the 2025-2026 staff as an assistant coach. Garrett is a former Pembina Valley Hawk, having spent three seasons with the program and helping lead the team to a league championship in 2014-15. He went on to play junior hockey with the Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL), was drafted by and suited up for the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL), and finished his junior career with the Winkler Flyers (MJHL). His performance earned him an NCAA scholarship to Salve Regina University, where he was a two-time All-Conference defenseman. After his playing career, Garrett transitioned into coaching and most recently served as an assistant coach with the Pembina Valley Hawks U15 AAA team. He is also the founder and lead skills coach at PV Elite Hockey, a development program focused on helping athletes reach their full potential on and off the ice. The Hawks are proud to welcome Garrett back to the organization as an assistant coach.
